Chandelier Candles

Servant of the Lake chandelier puzzle: where the three candles are hidden during Day 1 Afternoon, the order to light them, and why it opens the garden door.

Last updated 2026-08-14

Light spoilers. This page names rooms, items and characters you meet, but keeps the story beats out of it.

The chandelier is the gate between the house and the garden on Day 1 Afternoon. It needs three candles, and none of them are handed to you.

Finding the three candles

The candles are collected across the afternoon's chores, not found in one place. You will be holding all three by the time you have worked through the hallway tasks — if the chandelier is refusing you, you are short one and have a chore left undone rather than a puzzle left unsolved.

This is the single most useful thing to know about this puzzle: it is a collection gate wearing a puzzle costume. Go finish the room before you try to solve it.

Lighting order

The candles are lit in an order set by their shapes. Each candle's silhouette corresponds to a position on the chandelier.

The in-game art tells you the mapping. We are not going to transcribe a shape order we can only source from one screenshot — if you have all three candles in hand, compare each silhouette against the fixture and the pairing is readable directly.

Lit correctly, the chandelier comes up and the garden door unlocks.

While you are in the hallway

Two other things live in this room and both are easy to walk past.

Portrait knockdown. Take the feather duster to the portraits until one comes off the wall, then reassemble it. Each click plays a small NPC animation — those animations are the clue for a password box later in the day, so watch them rather than clicking through.

Small Repairs (hidden achievement). The official clue: "What else can you dust? There is more than three paintings." Do not stop at the three obvious ones.

What comes next

The garden door leads to the flowers, cockroaches and stone tiles. Full context on the Day 1 walkthrough.

Still to be confirmed

We could not verify the following against more than one source, so we have left it out rather than guess. This page is updated as confirmations come in.
