Light spoilers. This page names rooms, items and characters you meet, but keeps the story beats out of it.

The wine cabinet code is 1753.

It is the founding year of the Rusthaven Winery, and unlike most locks in this game, the answer is genuinely written in the room — the year is printed on the winery's own materials in the parlor. This is a reading puzzle rather than a deduction puzzle.

Where the cabinet is

Day 1 Evening, in the parlor, during the family reunion. It is the first of the parlor's chain of puzzles.

What it unlocks

The cabinet's real payoff is not the wine. Opening it gives you the clue for the nine-button box that sits nearby — the button order is derived from what the cabinet shows you.

The chain from there runs:

  1. Wine cabinet (1753)
  2. Reassemble the broken bottle on the floor
  3. Nine-button box, pressed in the order the cabinet clue gives → cigars
  4. William swallows a cigar and his mouth catches fire. Click his teeth to put it out — left and right teeth steer the water, the centre releases it → spoon
  5. Painting sequence — read the clue text and click the objects in the order it describes → fish

Full detail on the parlor page.

If 1753 is not accepted

Two things to check:

You may be at the wrong lock. There is more than one openable container in the parlor. 1753 is the wine cabinet specifically.

You may be missing a prerequisite. Several containers in this game silently refuse input until the scene has progressed far enough, even when the code is correct. If the tea service is not finished, finish it first — see the tea service page.

Other fixed codes

The full list — the Day 3 cabinet (6294), the attic stars (4 2 3), the clock values and the alchemy sequence — is on the all codes page.
